Spain - Digital Nomad Visa

Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa allows remote workers and entrepreneurs to live and work in Spain, offering tax benefits and access to a vibrant lifestyle while maintaining a flexible work schedule.

Program Overview

The Spain Digital Nomad Visa (D8) is designed for remote workers, freelancers, and self-employed professionals who wish to live in Spain while working for companies or clients outside the country. This program is an excellent choice for individuals in the tech, creative, and digital industries who seek a vibrant European base while maintaining global professional connections.

To qualify, applicants must prove a steady income from non-Spanish sources that meets Spain’s minimum financial threshold. The visa provides an initial one-year residency permit, which can be renewed for up to five years. After five years, applicants may apply for permanent residency, and after ten years, they may become eligible for Spanish citizenship.

Spain offers a high quality of life, a rich cultural heritage, and an affordable cost of living, making it an ideal destination for remote professionals. With access to Spain’s modern infrastructure, international co-working spaces, and excellent transport connections across Europe, the Digital Nomad Visa presents a perfect solution for those looking to balance work and lifestyle in one of the most desirable locations in the world.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Applicants must be employed by a non-Spanish company or be self-employed with clients outside of Spain. You must prove that your job or business can be done remotely.

A contract or proof of employment or freelance work that demonstrates remote work capabilities and an ongoing relationship with clients or employers outside Spain is required. This can include contracts, invoices, or letters from clients.

What benefits will I receive?

You do not need to have a local Spanish employer or job to qualify. As long as you work for an international company or have foreign clients, you can live and work in Spain on this visa.

You can bring your spouse and dependent children along with you under the same visa.

As Spain is part of the Schengen Area, holders of the Digital Nomad Visa can travel freely within the 26 European countries that make up the Schengen Zone.

After living in Spain for five years on the Digital Nomad Visa, you may be eligible for permanent residency.

The Digital Nomad Visa is initially valid for one year but can be renewed for up to five years.

What are the costs involved?

There is no large investment required with this program, unlike Golden Visas. There are fees for application support, legal documentation preparation, and advisory services, which vary depending on the number of applicants.

How long does the process take?

Expect the entire process to take approximately 12–18 weeks, subject to visa appointment and consulate availability.
